“A father is teaching his one-year-old daughter to walk. She is trying but she falls down. He puts her back on her feet and she falls down again. So he gets angry. He screams and shouts, “You’re a domb child. I’m a good teacher but you’re not learning.” When she falls again he spanks her for it. Obviously we would think very poorly of that kind of father. On the other hand, we would think well of a father who says, “Don’t worry about it. You fell down, but you’ll walk someday. I know you’re doing the very best you can.” Our God is like the second of the two. He knows our weaknesses and sin, but he also knows when we are trying and he is patient.”

“We can pray, for we can be assured that no prayer, no cry for help, not even a sign or a tear escapes the notice of him who sees deep into our hearts. Sometimes we may even fail to pray. But ‘before they call, I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear’ (Isaiah 65:24)”
